Faial Island, the Azores
The island of Faial is the fifth largest island in the archipelago of the Azores, Portugal. Its capital is Horta.
The island is also called the island "ilha Azul", because of the great variety of beaches and flowers.
The population is 15,476 hab. The area is 173 km².
The island is part of the central group of the Azores. The highest point is the Cabeço Gordo, with a height of 1043 meters above sea level.
