Climatic map of Argentina.

Argentina has a great variety of climates as a consequence of the combination of its latitudinal amplitude, -in the north, on the border with Bolivia, 21°46′S 66°13′W, and in the south, Cape San Pío, 55°03′S 66°31′W-, its variety of reliefs, -from 0 to 6962 meters above sea level in the Aconcagua- and its maritime coastline that extends 4725 km. In general, the predominant climate is temperate, although it acquires the characteristics of tropical climate in the extreme northeast and subpolar in the extreme southwest (if Antarctic Argentina is included, the polar climate is also included). The north of the country is characterized by very hot and humid summers, with mild and dry winters, being subject to periodic droughts. The center of the country has warm summers with rain and storms, and cool winters. The southern regions have temperate summers and cold winters with heavy snowfall, especially in mountainous areas. The highest elevations in all latitudes are those that experience colder conditions, with an arid climate and montane level.
