Numerous small cities and towns make grayish dots amid the green vegetation of eastern China.s henna (left) and Shandong (eight) regions. This low-lying area is used extensively for agriculture. To the west, the terrain begins to climb into the mountains. At upper right, yellowish-brown sediment can be seen in the Yellow Sea. This image was acquired by MODIS on April 11, 2002.
