Tandil is the head town of the homonymous partido and is located in the interior, in the center-east of the province of Buenos Aires, Argentina. It is located on the mountain ranges of the Tandilia system. It was founded by Brigadier General Martín Rodríguez, governor of the province of Buenos Aires, in 1823, with the name of Fuerte Independencia. The city is divided into 33 neighborhoods.
