It is the head of the General Pueyrredón partido, an important port and beach resort and the second most important tourism city in the country after Buenos Aires, since in summer time its population can increase by around 300%, so it has a great offer of hotel infrastructure. With a population of 614,350 as per the 2010 census [INDEC], it is the 7th largest city in Argentina.
