This is an area of the City of Buenos Aires informally called Microcentro and characterized by the concentration of administrative buildings and offices, roughly coinciding with the area around the historic center of the Plaza de Mayo. The Microcentro is not part of the 48 neighborhoods officially recognized by the city and therefore has no established limits; its location overlaps approximately with the neighborhood of San Nicolás and part of that of Monserrat. The area of the Microcentro to the north of Plaza de Mayo, characteristic financial center of Argentina where the corporate headquarters of the main banks and the Stock Exchange are located.
