The Sierra del Aconquija is the natural dividing line between the Argentine provinces of Catamarca and Tucumán, south of the pass known as El Infiernillo. Its maximum heights are recorded in the snow peaks of Cerro del Bolsón (5,552 meters above sea level); Cerro de las Dos Lagunas and Los Cerrillos at 5,500 meters, the Nevado del Candado and Cerro Ñuñorco. The Campo de los Alisos National Park, to the east of it, contains numerous archaeological sites, including La Ciudacita, at more than 4,000 masl. Image acquired in 1997.
