The Province of La Pampa or simply "La Pampa" is one of the twenty-three provinces that make up the Argentine Republic. In turn, it is one of the twenty-four self-governing states or jurisdictions of the first order that make up the country, and one of the 24 national legislative electoral districts. The capital and most populated city is Santa Rosa. It is located in the Pampas region, bounded on the north by the provinces of San Luis and Córdoba, on the east by the Province of Buenos Aires, on the south by the Colorado River that separates it from Río Negro, and on the northwest by Mendoza. The boundaries of the provinces of La Pampa, Río Negro, Mendoza and Neuquén are at a point, at the intersection of the Colorado River with the meridian (68º 15 'W).

With 318 951 inhabitants in 2010 it is the third least populated province - ahead of Santa Cruz and Tierra del Fuego, the least populated - and with 2.2 inhabitants/km², the second least in population density, ahead of Santa Cruz. It is one of the youngest provinces of the republic, since it was created in 1951. Until that year it was a national territory (National Territory of La Pampa), whose provincialization was provided by law No. 14037 sanctioned by the Congress of the Nation and promulgated by President Juan Domingo Perón, and constituted by the provincial convention democratically elected for that purpose.

The province of La Pampa is divided in 22 departments.
