Satellite view of northwestern Europe. This MERIS (MEdium Resolution Imaging Spectrometer) Image, is centred over Belgium. Towards the centre of the country is the capital Brussels, with a population of a little under 1 million it is also Belgium's biggest city. Brussels is also the headquarters of the the European Union and N.A.T.O. The hilly forested areas to the south east of the country is the Ardennes Forest.
