Physical map of the Province of Santa Fe, Argentina.
Although Santa Fe is a Mediterranean province, it has access to the sea through the Paraná River, that become La Plata River. By its extension it is the tenth Argentine province. It extends across a vast plain. The Salado River would indicate the approximate separation between the northern zone, included in the Chaco region, and the southern zone that belongs to the Pampean plain. This plain is the product of sediment accumulation in the Brasilia massif during the Precambrian era. The highest parts are to the west of the province. To the south of the provincial capital, the Paraná river coast presents high ravines.
