Córdoba is one of the 23 provinces that make up the Argentine Republic. In turn, it is one of the 24 self-governing states or jurisdictions of the first order6 that make up the country, and one of the 24 national legislative electoral districts.The capital and most populous city is Cordoba, also having as alternate capital the city of Villa de la Concepcion del Río Cuarto according to the provincial Law N ° 10169 promulgated on 10/25/2013.
It is located to the west of the Central region of the country, bounded on the north by Catamarca and Santiago del Estero, on the east by Santa Fe, on the southeast by the Province of Buenos Aires, on the south by Province of La Pampa and on the west by San Luis and The Rioja. With 3 567 654 habs. in 2010 it is the second most populated jurisdiction of first order -behind the Province of Buenos Aires-, with 165 321 km², it is the fifth most extensive -behind the Province of Buenos Aires, Santa Cruz, Chubut and Río Negro- and with 18.5 inhabitants/km², it is the sixth most densely populated, behind the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires, the Province of Tucumán, the Province of Buenos Aires, the Province of Misiones and the Province of Santa Fe.
