Physical map of the Province of Chubut, Argentina.

The most important morphological units of Chubut are the Andes and the Patagonian plateaus.

The Andean zone corresponds to the Patagonian Andes. The highest points of the province are located in the provincial northwest. To the west of Lake Cholila are the hills of Dos Picos (2515 masl), Annexo (2498 masl) and Tres Picos (2492 masl). The Situación hill (2307 masl) stands out in the Los Alerces National Park.

To the east of the Andes, the Patagónides develop a system of lower mountain ranges, among which the Sierra Nevada and the Cutancunué hill stand out, with 1885 meters above sea level.

In the Andean area, the highland plateaus gradually descend towards the Atlantic coast. The Telsen mountain range, Pampa de Gastre, the Montemayor plateau, etc. stand out.

These plateaus are cut by the valleys of the rivers, by lakes such as Musters and Colhué Huapi lakes, and depressions such as the Bajo de Tierra Colorada, the Salinas Chicas and Grandes.

The plateaus reach the Atlantic coast where they form cliffs exposed to marine action.

The most important coastal accidents are the Peninsula Valdés and the Gulf of San Jorge.
