The main cities (with their population in brackets) are Brussels (1,006,749 in the city s.s. and about 2 million in its agglomeration), Antwerp (457,749 in the commune and 900,000 with its metropolitan area), Ghent (230,951), Charleroi (201,373), Liège (185,574 in the municipality and 600,000 in its agglomeration) and Bruges (117,253).
