Physical map of Valle del Cauca
The area of the Valle del Cauca is 22 140 km2. The department is crossed from south to north by the río Cauca. It is bordered by the departments of Chocó and Risaralda in the north, the Cauca in the south, Quindío and Tolima in the east and the Pacific Ocean in the west.
The department has a wide variety of ecosystems thanks to the presence of a coast, the western cordillera, the plain and the valley of the río Cauca and, to the east, the Cordillera Centrale.
