The Autobahn is the nationally coordinated freeway network in Germany. In German, Autobahn is a compound word whose meaning much resembles highway, although they are called Bundesautobahn, German Autobahnen have no general speed limit.
Autobahnen was the first logistic network with limited access and the fastest in the world, with the construction of the first section from Frankfurt am Main to Darmstadt, which opened in 1935.
