Spain Autonomous Communities

The structure of the Spanish State in Autonomous Communities is based on the Constitution of 1978. Article 2 which recognizes and guarantees the right to autonomy of the nationalities and regions that make up the Country. This decision is based on the premise of the indissoluble unity of the Spanish nation, homeland of all Spaniards. The autonomies were the solution found in the so-called democratic transition of the time (post-Franco) to a secular problem of the country: the democratic demands of the different nationalities and the relations of central power with them.
