Medical cannabis o marijuana in the world.

Medicinal cannabis refers to the use of preparations or active ingredients of the plant Cannabis sativa or indica, called cannabinoids, -among them tetrahydrocannabinol or THC and cannabidiol or CBD- as therapy to treat some diseases or alleviate certain symptoms. The beginning of the use of Cannabis sativa or indica dates back thousands of years, and has been used by many cultures. Its usefulness is currently under review, and there are arguments both for and against its medicinal use. Among the detractors are the American Medical Association, the American Society of Addiction Medicine, which have argued against its use for medical purposes.

To date, given the evolution of scientific knowledge in the field of cannabinoids, the medical use of cannabis is becoming more and more tolerated, even legal, in a growing number of countries including: Canada, Australia, Netherlands, the United Kingdom, New Zealand, Germany, Spain, Portugal, Italy, the Czech Republic, Romania, Finland, Chile, Colombia, Israel and the United States in 23 US states as well as in the federal capital (Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Hawaii, Illinois, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Montana, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, New Mexico, Oregon, Rhode Island, Vermont, Washington, DC).
