Fires in northern Spain
Scattered fires stretch across the plains between northern Spain’s coastal and central mountain ranges. The fires, which are outlined in bright red, are concentrated to the northwest of Valladolid city, which appears grey against the light tan floor of the valley just left of image center. None of the fires are emitting any visible smoke plumes. At the top of the image, bright white low clouds cover the Bay of Biscay. This image was taken by the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) on NASA’s Terra satellite on September 23, 2004.
