Elle est situ\u00e9e sur les rives du golfe de Panama, dans l&#8217;oc\u00e9an Pacifique, \u00e0 l&#8217;est de l&#8217;embouchure du canal de Panama. En tant que capitale de la r\u00e9publique, elle abrite le si\u00e8ge du gouvernement national, ainsi que d&#8217;autres institutions gouvernementales et un grand nombre d&#8217;ambassades et de consulats d\u00fbment accr\u00e9dit\u00e9s. Elle dispose d&#8217;une activit\u00e9 financi\u00e8re intense et d&#8217;un centre bancaire ; elle s&#8217;est class\u00e9e 2<sup>\u00e8me<\/sup> dans la version 2013 du classement des villes les plus comp\u00e9titives d&#8217;Am\u00e9rique latine.<\/p>\n<p>Le canal de Panama et le tourisme sont \u00e9galement des sources de revenus notables pour l&#8217;\u00e9conomie de la ville, qui b\u00e9n\u00e9ficie d&#8217;un climat tropical de mousson.
