C&#8217;est la plus grande agglom\u00e9ration du pays, servant de centre politique, culturel, \u00e9ducatif et financier du pays. La municipalit\u00e9 de San Salvador compte 525 990 habitants (2024). La zone m\u00e9tropolitaine de San Salvador, qui comprend la capitale elle-m\u00eame et 13 de ses municipalit\u00e9s, a une population de 2 404 097 habitants. San Salvador est situ\u00e9e dans les hautes terres salvadoriennes, entour\u00e9e de volcans et sujette aux tremblements de terre. La ville abrite \u00e9galement l&#8217;archidioc\u00e8se catholique romain de San Salvador, ainsi que de nombreuses branches protestantes du christianisme, notamment les \u00e9vang\u00e9liques, les baptistes et les pentec\u00f4tistes, ainsi que la secte chr\u00e9tienne restaurationniste de l&#8217;\u00c9glise de J\u00e9sus-Christ des Saints des Derniers Jours.<\/p>\n<p>San Salvador a \u00e9t\u00e9 la ville h\u00f4te d&#8217;\u00e9v\u00e9nements sportifs, politiques et sociaux r\u00e9gionaux et internationaux. Elle a accueilli les Jeux d&#8217;Am\u00e9rique centrale et des Cara\u00efbes en 1935, 2002 et 2023, les Jeux d&#8217;Am\u00e9rique centrale en 1977 et 1994, ainsi que le concours de Miss Univers en 1975 et 2023. San Salvador a \u00e9galement \u00e9t\u00e9 la ville h\u00f4te du XVIIIe Sommet ib\u00e9ro-am\u00e9ricain en 2008, l&#8217;\u00e9v\u00e9nement sociopolitique le plus important de la sph\u00e8re espagnole et portugaise. Le Syst\u00e8me d&#8217;int\u00e9gration centram\u00e9ricain a son si\u00e8ge \u00e0 San Salvador.<\/p>\n<div style=\"clear: both; display: inline-block; width: 100%;\">\n<div class=\"row\">\n<div
