L&#8217;a\u00e9roport est \u00e9galement appel\u00e9 a\u00e9roport international de Chek Lap Kok ou a\u00e9roport de Chek Lap Kok, pour le distinguer de son pr\u00e9d\u00e9cesseur, l&#8217;ancien a\u00e9roport de Kai Tak.<\/p>\n<p>Ouvert en 1998, l&#8217;a\u00e9roport international de Hong Kong est le point d&#8217;entr\u00e9e de fret le plus fr\u00e9quent\u00e9 au monde et l&#8217;un des a\u00e9roports de passagers les plus fr\u00e9quent\u00e9s au monde. Il fonctionne 24 heures sur 24 et constitue la plaque tournante principale de Cathay Pacific, Greater Bay Airlines, Hong Kong Airlines, HK Express et Air Hong Kong (transporteur de fret). L&#8217;a\u00e9roport est l&#8217;une des plaques tournantes de Oneworld et l&#8217;une des plaques tournantes de fret de la r\u00e9gion Asie-Pacifique pour UPS Airlines. C&#8217;est une ville phare pour China Airlines et China Eastern Airlines. Ethiopian Airlines utilise Hong Kong comme point d&#8217;escale pour ses vols.<\/p>\n<p>L&#8217;a\u00e9roport international de Hong Kong, qui employait environ 60 000 personnes au d\u00e9but de 2024, est un contributeur important \u00e0 l&#8217;\u00e9conomie de Hong Kong. La contribution \u00e9conomique g\u00e9n\u00e9r\u00e9e par l&#8217;industrie du transport a\u00e9rien de Hong Kong en 2018 s&#8217;\u00e9levait \u00e0 33 milliards de dollars am\u00e9ricains, soit 10,2 % du PIB de Hong Kong. Plus de 100 compagnies a\u00e9riennes proposent des vols depuis l&#8217;a\u00e9roport vers plus de 180 villes \u00e0 travers le monde. En 2015, l&#8217;a\u00e9roport international de Hong Kong a accueilli 68,5 millions de passagers, ce qui en fait le 8<sup>e<\/sup> a\u00e9roport le plus fr\u00e9quent\u00e9 au monde en termes de trafic de passagers et le 4<sup>e<\/sup> a\u00e9roport le plus fr\u00e9quent\u00e9 au monde en termes de trafic international de passagers.
