Elle est donc situ\u00e9e en dehors de l&#8217;Union europ\u00e9enne, apr\u00e8s avoir \u00e9t\u00e9 une collectivit\u00e9 d&#8217;outre-mer (COM) au sens de l&#8217;article 74 de la Constitution depuis le 15 juillet 20073. Avant cette date, \u00e0 laquelle le changement de statut a pris effet lors de la r\u00e9union du conseil territorial nouvellement \u00e9lu, elle \u00e9tait une commune et un arrondissement, d\u00e9pendant du d\u00e9partement d&#8217;outre-mer de la Guadeloupe.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Superficie totale de Saint-Barth\u00e9lemy 25 km\u00b2<\/li>\n<li>En 2020 la population de Saint-Barth\u00e9lemy \u00e9tait de 9,999<\/li>\n<li>La chef-lieu et principal bourg du pays et territoire est Gustavia<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Elle est famili\u00e8rement appel\u00e9e Saint-Barth (ou, par les anglophones, St Barts). L&#8217;\u00eele se trouve \u00e0 environ 35 kilom\u00e8tres au sud-est de l&#8217;\u00eele carib\u00e9enne de Saint-Martin et au nord-est des \u00eeles n\u00e9erlandaises de Saba et Saint-Eustache et du pays ind\u00e9pendant de Saint-Christophe-et-Ni\u00e9v\u00e8s.<\/p>\n<p>Saint-Barth\u00e9lemy, une \u00eele volcanique enti\u00e8rement encercl\u00e9e de r\u00e9cifs peu profonds, a une superficie de 25 kilom\u00e8tres carr\u00e9s et une population de 9,999 habitants en 2020. Sa capitale est Gustavia, qui contient \u00e9galement le port principal. C&#8217;est la seule \u00eele des Cara\u00efbes qui a \u00e9t\u00e9 une colonie su\u00e9doise pendant une p\u00e9riode significative. Elle le resta pendant pr\u00e8s d&#8217;un si\u00e8cle avant de revenir \u00e0 la domination fran\u00e7aise apr\u00e8s un r\u00e9f\u00e9rendum. Le symbolisme des armes nationales su\u00e9doises, les trois couronnes, appara\u00eet toujours dans les armoiries de l&#8217;\u00eele. La langue, la cuisine et la culture, cependant, sont distinctement fran\u00e7aises.
