Il est bord\u00e9 par les \u00c9tats indiens de l&#8217;Arunachal Pradesh au nord, de l&#8217;Assam \u00e0 l&#8217;ouest, du Manipur au sud et de la zone auto-administr\u00e9e Naga de la r\u00e9gion de Sagaing au Myanmar (Birmanie) \u00e0 l&#8217;est. Sa capitale est Kohima et sa plus grande ville est la ville jumelle Ch\u00fcmoukedima\u2013Dimapur. Chaque tribu se distingue des autres par ses coutumes, sa langue et ses v\u00eatements. C&#8217;est une terre de folklore transmis de g\u00e9n\u00e9ration en g\u00e9n\u00e9ration par le bouche \u00e0 oreille. La premi\u00e8re histoire enregistr\u00e9e des Nagas du Nagaland actuel remonte au 13<sup>e<\/sup> si\u00e8cle.<\/p>\n<p>Au XIX<sup>e<\/sup> si\u00e8cle, les forces britanniques de l&#8217;Inde ont commenc\u00e9 \u00e0 \u00e9tendre leur influence dans le nord-est de l&#8217;Inde, notamment dans les collines de Naga. Apr\u00e8s l&#8217;ind\u00e9pendance de l&#8217;Inde en 1947, la question du statut politique des collines de Naga s&#8217;est pos\u00e9e. Le Nagaland \u00e9tait un district de l&#8217;\u00c9tat d&#8217;Assam jusqu&#8217;en 1957, connu sous le nom de \u00ab Collines nagas \u00bb. Le Conseil national Naga, dirig\u00e9 par Zapu Phizo, exigea la cr\u00e9ation d&#8217;un \u00c9tat Naga ind\u00e9pendant et lan\u00e7a une insurrection arm\u00e9e. Le gouvernement indien maintint cependant que le Nagaland faisait partie int\u00e9grante de l&#8217;Union indienne. Le conflit entre le Conseil national Naga et le gouvernement indien aboutit \u00e0 une insurrection prolong\u00e9e. L&#8217;\u00c9tat du Nagaland fut officiellement inaugur\u00e9 le 1<sup>er<\/sup> d\u00e9cembre 1963, en tant que 16<sup>e<\/sup> \u00c9tat de l&#8217;Union indienne, et un gouvernement d\u00e9mocratiquement \u00e9lu prit ses fonctions en 1964.<\/p>\n<p>Le Nagaland abrite une grande vari\u00e9t\u00e9 de ressources naturelles, culturelles et environnementales. C&#8217;est un \u00c9tat montagneux situ\u00e9 entre les parall\u00e8les de 95\u00b0 et 94\u00b0 de longitude est et de 25,2\u00b0 et 27,0\u00b0 de latitude nord. La c\u00e9l\u00e8bre vall\u00e9e de Dz\u00fcko se trouve \u00e0 Viswema, dans la r\u00e9gion sud de l&#8217;\u00c9tat. L&#8217;\u00c9tat dispose d&#8217;importantes ressources en min\u00e9raux naturels, en p\u00e9trole et en \u00e9nergie hydraulique, le secteur primaire, essentiellement agricole, repr\u00e9sentant encore 24,6 % de son \u00e9conomie.
