Chaque comt\u00e9 a son propre pouvoir l\u00e9gislatif \u00e9lu, le plus souvent appel\u00e9s la County Commission, qui a quelquefois une autorit\u00e9 ex\u00e9cutive dans le comt\u00e9. D\u00fb aux restrictions impos\u00e9 par la Constitution de l&#8217;Alabama, tous les comt\u00e9s, sauf sept (Jefferson, Lee, Mobile, Madison, Montgomery, Shelby, et Tuscaloosa), de l&#8217;\u00c9tat ont peu ou pas de Home Rule.
