Officiellement, la population de la ville est d&#8217;environ 475 000 habitants ; cependant, certaines sources l&#8217;estiment \u00e0 plus de 660 000, soit environ 140 % des chiffres officiels. Bratislava se trouve au sud-ouest de la Slovaquie, au pied des Petites Carpates, occupant les deux rives du Danube et la rive gauche de la Morava. C&#8217;\u00e9tait le lieu du couronnement, le centre l\u00e9gislatif et la capitale du Royaume de Hongrie de 1563 \u00e0 1783 ; onze rois et huit reines hongrois ont \u00e9t\u00e9 couronn\u00e9s dans la cath\u00e9drale Saint-Martin. C&#8217;est le si\u00e8ge du pr\u00e9sident slovaque, du parlement et de l&#8217;ex\u00e9cutif slovaque. Elle compte plusieurs universit\u00e9s et de nombreux mus\u00e9es, th\u00e9\u00e2tres, galeries et autres institutions culturelles et \u00e9ducatives. De nombreuses grandes entreprises et institutions financi\u00e8res slovaques y ont leur si\u00e8ge.<\/p>\n<p>Le PIB \u00e0 parit\u00e9 de pouvoir d&#8217;achat est environ trois fois sup\u00e9rieur \u00e0 celui des autres r\u00e9gions slovaques.
