Elles s&#8217;\u00e9tendent sur environ 430 km, du golfe de Gascogne \u00e0 l&#8217;ouest jusqu&#8217;\u00e0 la mer M\u00e9diterran\u00e9e \u00e0 l&#8217;est.<\/p>\n<div class=\"boxscrl\">\n<figure cha\u00eene pyr\u00e9n\u00e9enne.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>C\u00f4t\u00e9 fran\u00e7ais, les principaux d\u00e9partements concern\u00e9s sont les Pyr\u00e9n\u00e9es-Atlantiques, Hautes-Pyr\u00e9n\u00e9es, Haute-Garonne, Ari\u00e8ge, Aude et Pyr\u00e9n\u00e9es-Orientales.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Relief<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>La cha\u00eene pr\u00e9sente de fortes diff\u00e9rences d&#8217;altitude entre les vall\u00e9es et les sommets.<\/p>\n<p>Le Vignemale, avec environ 3 298 m, est le plus haut sommet des Pyr\u00e9n\u00e9es fran\u00e7aises.<\/p>\n<p>Parmi les autres sommets remarquables :<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Pic de Perdigu\u00e8re \u2014 3 222 m ;<\/li>\n<li>Pic Long \u2014 3 192 m ;<\/li>\n<li>Pic du Marbor\u00e9 \u2014 3 248 m ;<\/li>\n<li>Pic du Midi d&#8217;Ossau \u2014 2 884 m est l&#8217;Aneto (3 404 m), situ\u00e9 en Espagne.<\/p>\n<p><strong>G\u00e9ologie<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Les Pyr\u00e9n\u00e9es sont une cha\u00eene de montagnes relativement jeune \u00e0 l&#8217;\u00e9chelle g\u00e9ologique. Leur formation est principalement li\u00e9e \u00e0 la convergence entre la plaque ib\u00e9rique et la plaque europ\u00e9enne, surtout durant le Cr\u00e9tac\u00e9 et le C\u00e9nozo\u00efque.<\/p>\n<p>On y rencontre :<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>granites ;<\/li>\n<li>schistes ;<\/li>\n<li>calcaires ;<\/li>\n<li>roches m\u00e9tamorphiques ;<\/li>\n<li>roches s\u00e9dimentaires.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Les Pyr\u00e9n\u00e9es centrales poss\u00e8dent certains des reliefs les plus \u00e9lev\u00e9s et les plus spectaculaires.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Paysages et biodiversit\u00e9<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Les Pyr\u00e9n\u00e9es pr\u00e9sentent une succession d&#8217;\u00e9tages de v\u00e9g\u00e9tation :<\/p>\n<p><strong>vall\u00e9es \u2192 for\u00eats \u2192 prairies d&#8217;altitude \u2192 zones rocheuses \u2192 sommets enneig\u00e9s.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>On y trouve notamment :<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>isard ;<\/li>\n<li>marmotte ;<\/li>\n<li>gypa\u00e8te barbu ;<\/li>\n<li>aigle royal ;<\/li>\n<li>ours brun dans certains secteurs ;<\/li>\n<li>nombreuses esp\u00e8ces v\u00e9g\u00e9tales end\u00e9miques.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Le Parc national des Pyr\u00e9n\u00e9es, cr\u00e9\u00e9 en 1967, prot\u00e8ge une partie importante des \u00e9cosyst\u00e8mes pyr\u00e9n\u00e9ens.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Climat<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Le climat varie fortement selon l&#8217;altitude et la position g\u00e9ographique.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Versant atlantique : plus humide.<\/li>\n<li>Pyr\u00e9n\u00e9es centrales : climat montagnard, avec des hivers froids et enneig\u00e9s.<\/li>\n<li>Versant m\u00e9diterran\u00e9en : plus sec et plus ensoleill\u00e9.<\/li>\n<li>Haute montagne : temp\u00e9ratures basses et enneigement important en hiver.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Tourisme<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Les Pyr\u00e9n\u00e9es constituent une importante destination touristique.<\/p>\n<p>Sports d&#8217;hiver :<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>ski alpin ;<\/li>\n<li>ski de fond ;<\/li>\n<li>snowboard ;<\/li>\n<li>raquettes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>En \u00e9t\u00e9 :<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>randonn\u00e9e ;<\/li>\n<li>alpinisme ;<\/li>\n<li>escalade ;<\/li>\n<li>cyclotourisme ;<\/li>\n<li>parapente ;<\/li>\n<li>tourisme thermal.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Parmi les destinations fran\u00e7aises connues figurent Lourdes, Cauterets, Bagn\u00e8res-de-Luchon, Ax-les-Thermes, Font-Romeu et Saint-Lary-Soulan.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Principaux ensembles<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>On distingue g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement :<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Pyr\u00e9n\u00e9es occidentales : reliefs plus humides et paysages verdoyants ;<\/li>\n<li>Pyr\u00e9n\u00e9es centrales : sommets les plus \u00e9lev\u00e9s ;<\/li>\n<li>Pyr\u00e9n\u00e9es orientales : influence m\u00e9diterran\u00e9enne plus marqu\u00e9e.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>En r\u00e9sum\u00e9<\/strong> : les Pyr\u00e9n\u00e9es constituent l&#8217;une des grandes cha\u00eenes montagneuses d&#8217;Europe occidentale.
