La superficie de la pr\u00e9fecture est de 16 900 km\u00b2. Les cultures commerciales sont les palmiers \u00e0 huile, caf\u00e9 et tabac. La p\u00eache fluviale traditionnelle est pratiqu\u00e9e sur les rivi\u00e8res Kotto et Oubangui.
