La superficie de la pr\u00e9fecture est de 18 520 km\u00b2. En 2022, 243 315 r\u00e9sidents y ont \u00e9t\u00e9 recens\u00e9s. La pr\u00e9fecture est le centre du massif de Yad\u00e9, qui se prolonge plus \u00e0 l&#8217;ouest au Cameroun et au sud dans la Nana-Mamb\u00e9r\u00e9.
