L&#8217;Empire a \u00e9t\u00e9 cr\u00e9\u00e9 quand Jean-Bedel Bokassa, pr\u00e9sident de la R\u00e9publique puis pr\u00e9sident \u00e0 vie, s&#8217;est proclam\u00e9 empereur sous le nom de Bokassa I<sup>er<\/sup> le 4 d\u00e9cembre 1976.
