Le transport sur ces routes, dont la plupart ne sont pas goudronn\u00e9es et larges de deux voies, est souvent dangereux. Les longs trajets sont souvent effectu\u00e9s dans des taxis brousses, qui peuvent \u00eatre partag\u00e9s par 20 personnes ou plus.<\/p>\n<p>Alors que la plupart des routes principales sont en bon \u00e9tat, le Programme alimentaire mondial a class\u00e9 les deux tiers des routes comme \u00e9tant en mauvais \u00e9tat. Ces conditions peuvent rendre dangereuse la conduite \u00e0 des vitesses mod\u00e9r\u00e9es \u00e0 \u00e9lev\u00e9es et les attaques de dahalo (bandits) constituent une menace \u00e0 basse vitesse. De nombreuses routes sont impraticables pendant la saison des pluies \u00e0 Madagascar ; certains ponts (souvent des structures \u00e9troites \u00e0 une voie) sont susceptibles d&#8217;\u00eatre emport\u00e9s. Peu de Malgaches ruraux vivent \u00e0 proximit\u00e9 d&#8217;une route en bon \u00e9tat ; une mauvaise connectivit\u00e9 routi\u00e8re peut poser des probl\u00e8mes dans les domaines des soins de sant\u00e9, de l&#8217;agriculture et de l&#8217;\u00e9ducation.<\/p>\n<p>Les conducteurs \u00e0 Madagascar voyagent du c\u00f4t\u00e9 droit de la route. Sur certaines routes, le gouvernement de Madagascar exige que les chauffeurs circulent en convois d&#8217;au moins dix v\u00e9hicules afin de dissuader les attaques des dahalo. La d\u00e9claration partielle des d\u00e9c\u00e8s par collision de voitures et une approximation d&#8217;un nombre complet par l&#8217;Organisation mondiale de la sant\u00e9 sugg\u00e8rent que le taux de d\u00e9c\u00e8s par collision de voitures est parmi les plus \u00e9lev\u00e9s au monde. Des points de contr\u00f4le de police al\u00e9atoires, o\u00f9 les voyageurs sont tenus de produire des pi\u00e8ces d&#8217;identit\u00e9, sont r\u00e9partis dans tout le pays.<\/p>\n<p>Les r\u00e9coltes sont transport\u00e9es localement par charrettes \u00e0 b\u0153ufs et par camion interr\u00e9gional. Les v\u00e9hicules \u00e0 propulsion humaine, autrefois le seul moyen de transport routier, existent encore sous la forme de pousse-pousses (rickshaws). Les taxis brousses constituent un syst\u00e8me de transport public routier rudimentaire \u00e0 Madagascar. Depuis 2005, les trajets en taxi brousse co\u00fbtent aussi peu que 200 ariary malgaches (environ 0,10 USD) et les v\u00e9hicules impliqu\u00e9s sont souvent surcharg\u00e9s de monde, parfois avec l&#8217;assistant chauffeur \u00e0 l&#8217;ext\u00e9rieur du v\u00e9hicule. Les arr\u00eats sur leurs itin\u00e9raires ne sont g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement pas fixes, ce qui permet aux passagers de sortir \u00e0 des points arbitraires.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Les routes nationales \u00e0 Madagascar<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Les routes nationales commen\u00e7ant par N ou RN. Les tron\u00e7ons non contigus d&#8217;une route nationale se distinguent par des lettres (a, b&#8230;), les itin\u00e9raires alternatifs portent le suffixe -bis. Le Minist\u00e8re des Travaux Publics classe les routes en trois groupes : les routes nationales primaires (P), les routes nationales secondaires (S) et les routes nationales temporaires (T); ces derni\u00e8res sont g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement non pav\u00e9es ou en mauvais \u00e9tat faute d&#8217;entretien et ne sont donc praticables qu&#8217;en saison s\u00e8che.<\/p>\n<div
