Madagascar est divis\u00e9 en 23 r\u00e9gions (faritra). Ces anciennes divisions administratives de deuxi\u00e8me niveau sont devenues des divisions administratives de premier niveau lorsque les six anciennes provinces ont \u00e9t\u00e9 dissoutes le 4 octobre 2009.<\/p>\n

Les d\u00e9nominations des r\u00e9gions et leurs chefs-lieux sont confirm\u00e9s par la loi 2014-020 du 27 Septembre 2014. En 2015 un d\u00e9cret ajuste le contour de ces r\u00e9gions en fonction du nouveau d\u00e9coupage des communes. En 2021 la r\u00e9gion de Vatovavy-Fitovinany est scind\u00e9e en Vatovavy et Fitovinany selon la loi 010 \/ 2021 du 09 Juin 2021.<\/p>\n
