Les 12 cantons du Grand-Duch\u00e9 de Luxembourg sont des zones de collectivit\u00e9s locales au premier niveau d’unit\u00e9 administrative locale (LAU-1) dans la nomenclature des unit\u00e9s territoriales statistiques de l’Union europ\u00e9enne aux fins d’Eurostat. Ils \u00e9taient des subdivisions des trois arrondissements du Luxembourg jusqu’en 2015, date \u00e0 laquelle le niveau de gouvernement de l’arrondissement a \u00e9t\u00e9 aboli. Les cantons sont \u00e0 leur tour subdivis\u00e9s en 102 communes (c’est-\u00e0-dire des municipalit\u00e9s).<\/p>\n

Les cantons ne disposent pas d’une structure administrative propre, ils servent d’unit\u00e9s territoriales pour d\u00e9limiter les circonscriptions \u00e9lectorales et les arrondissements judiciaires.<\/p>\n
