Son altitude moyenne est de 400 m et le diff\u00e9rentiel entre les deux points extr\u00eames ne d\u00e9passe pas 600 m. La majeure partie du centre du Burkina Faso se trouve sur un plateau de savane, \u00e0 198-305 m\u00e8tres au-dessus du niveau de la mer, avec des champs, des broussailles et des arbres \u00e9pars. Les r\u00e9serves de gibier du Burkina Faso &#8211; dont les plus importantes sont les parcs nationaux d&#8217;Arly, de Nazinga et du W &#8211; contiennent des lions, des \u00e9l\u00e9phants, des hippopotames, des singes, des phacoch\u00e8res communs et des antilopes. Auparavant, le chien sauvage d&#8217;Afrique en voie de disparition, Lycaon pictus, \u00e9tait pr\u00e9sent au Burkina Faso, mais, bien que des derni\u00e8res observations aient \u00e9t\u00e9 faites dans le parc national d&#8217;Arly, l&#8217;esp\u00e8ce est consid\u00e9r\u00e9e comme disparue du Burkina Faso.<\/p>\n<p>Deux grands types de paysages existent au Burkina :<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>la plus grande partie du pays est couverte par une p\u00e9n\u00e9plaine. Elle forme un relief tr\u00e8s l\u00e9g\u00e8rement vallonn\u00e9 avec par endroits quelques collines isol\u00e9es, ultimes vestiges d&#8217;un massif du Pr\u00e9cambrien. C&#8217;est un paysage assez uniforme, avec un sol le plus souvent color\u00e9 en ocre par la lat\u00e9rite. Il a un relief plat qui ne retient pas de grandes quantit\u00e9s d&#8217;eau d&#8217;o\u00f9 l&#8217;insuffisance hydrique dans certaines r\u00e9gions ;<\/li>\n<li>la partie sud-ouest du pays forme un massif gr\u00e9seux. Le point culminant du pays s&#8217;y trouve : le Tenakourou (749 m). Le massif est limit\u00e9 par des falaises tr\u00e8s escarp\u00e9es atteignant 150 m de haut : falaise de Banfora, pics de Sindou, cavernes de Douna, etc.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Points sans nom \u00e0 la fronti\u00e8re avec le B\u00e9nin imm\u00e9diatement au sud du tripoint Burkina Faso-B\u00e9nin-Niger, r\u00e9gion Est<\/li>\n<li>Point le plus au sud &#8211; emplacement sans nom \u00e0 la fronti\u00e8re avec la C\u00f4te d&#8217;Ivoire imm\u00e9diatement au sud du village de Kpuere, r\u00e9gion du Sud-Ouest<\/li>\n<li>Point le plus \u00e0 l&#8217;ouest &#8211; le tripoint
