Il est connu pour sa d\u00e9mocratie stable et de longue date, et pour sa main-d&#8217;\u0153uvre hautement qualifi\u00e9e, dont la plupart parlent anglais. Le pays consacre environ 6,9% de son budget (2016) \u00e0 l&#8217;\u00e9ducation, contre une moyenne mondiale de 4,4%. Son \u00e9conomie, autrefois fortement tributaire de l&#8217;agriculture, s&#8217;est diversifi\u00e9e pour inclure des secteurs tels que la finance, les services pour les soci\u00e9t\u00e9s \u00e9trang\u00e8res, les produits pharmaceutiques et l&#8217;\u00e9cotourisme. De nombreuses entreprises \u00e9trang\u00e8res de fabrication et de services op\u00e8rent dans les zones franches du Costa Rica o\u00f9 elles b\u00e9n\u00e9ficient d&#8217;incitations fiscales et d&#8217;investissement.<\/p>\n<p>Le Costa Rica \u00e9tait peu peupl\u00e9 de peuples autochtones avant de passer sous domination espagnole au XVI<sup>e<\/sup> si\u00e8cle.
