Jadis, la r\u00e9gion d\u2019El Eulma \u00e9tait essentiellement agricole (bl\u00e9, ovins, bovins, etc). Elle est connue dans les milieux agricoles par l\u2019excellente qualit\u00e9 de son bl\u00e9 et par le plus grand et important souk de b\u00e9tail dans l\u2019est du pays.<\/p>\n<p>Aujourd\u2019hui, la ville, en gardant toutefois son cachet agricole, se tourne vers des activit\u00e9s des secteurs secondaires et tertiaires.<\/p>\n<p>Le paysage industriel est assez diversifi\u00e9 dans la r\u00e9gion, on y trouve des industries de fabrication de compteurs de toute sorte, de fil de fer, de baguettes de soudure, etc.<\/p>\n<p>Apr\u00e8s l\u2019abandon par l\u2019\u00c9tat alg\u00e9rien du monopole des importations dans les ann\u00e9es 1990, cela va entra\u00eener la cr\u00e9ation de nombreux centres commerciaux que cinq wilayas se partagent le monopole (dont trois dans l\u2019Est alg\u00e9rien) \u00e0 eux seuls ils repr\u00e9sentent 70% des produits import\u00e9s en Alg\u00e9rie. La ville d\u2019El-Eulma concentre pr\u00e8s de 6\u00a0% des importations avec plus de 3500 commerces de gros et semi-gros, bien que rien ne pr\u00e9disposait cette localit\u00e9 p\u00e9riph\u00e9rique \u00e0 jouer un tel r\u00f4le (bien que la ville \u00e9tait auparavant c\u00e9l\u00e8bre pour son march\u00e9 de bestiaux, consid\u00e9r\u00e9 comme l\u2019un des plus importants, dans les ann\u00e9es 1970. De par son activit\u00e9 commerciale florissante, El Eulma est devenue incontournable, son march\u00e9 a acquis une grande r\u00e9putation \u00e0 l\u2019int\u00e9rieur et \u00e0 l\u2019ext\u00e9rieur du pays.
