Une ville\u00a0(city<\/span> en anglais) est une classification des municipalit\u00e9s utilis\u00e9e dans la province canadienne de la Colombie-Britannique. Le lieutenant-gouverneur en conseil de la Colombie-Britannique peut incorporer une communaut\u00e9 en tant que ville par lettres patentes, sous la recommandation du ministre des Communaut\u00e9s, des Sports et du D\u00e9veloppement culturel, si sa population est sup\u00e9rieure \u00e0 5 000 habitants et si le r\u00e9sultat d’un vote impliquant les r\u00e9sidents concern\u00e9s \u00e9tait sup\u00e9rieur plus de 50 % ont vot\u00e9 en faveur de l’incorporation propos\u00e9e.<\/p>\n

La Colombie-Britannique compte 52 villes qui avaient une population cumul\u00e9e de 3 327 824 et une population moyenne de 63 997 au recensement de 2016. Les villes les plus grandes et les plus petites de la Colombie-Britannique sont Vancouver et Greenwood avec des populations de 631 486 et 665 respectivement. La plus grande ville par superficie est Abbotsford, qui s’\u00e9tend sur 375,55 km\u00b2, tandis que la plus petite est Duncan, avec 2,07 km\u00b2.<\/p>\n

La premi\u00e8re communaut\u00e9 \u00e0 s’incorporer en tant que ville a \u00e9t\u00e9 New Westminster le 16 juillet 1860, tandis que la plus r\u00e9cente ville de la province est Mission, qui a \u00e9t\u00e9 renomm\u00e9e d’une municipalit\u00e9 de district \u00e0 une ville le 29 mars 2021.<\/p>\n
