Elle est compos\u00e9e de 5 municipalit\u00e9s r\u00e9gionales de comt\u00e9 (MRC) et de 80 municipalit\u00e9s. Elle est devenue une r\u00e9gion administrative ind\u00e9pendante le 30 juillet 1997. Les principaux centres sont Drummondville, Victoriaville et B\u00e9cancour. La r\u00e9gion a une superficie de 6 930,05 kilom\u00e8tres carr\u00e9s et une population au recensement de 2016 de 242 399 habitants.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_27521\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-27521\" style=\"width: 360px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/gifex.com\/fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/27519\/Carte-topographique-du-Centre-du-Quebec.png\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-27521\" title=\"Carte topographique du Centre-du-Qu\u00e9bec.\" src=\"https:\/\/gifex.com\/fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/27519\/Carte-topographique-du-Centre-du-Quebec-300x227.png\" alt=\"Carte topographique du Centre-du-Qu\u00e9bec.\" width=\"360\" height=\"272\" srcset=\"https:\/\/gifex.com\/fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/27519\/Carte-topographique-du-Centre-du-Quebec-300x227.png 300w, https:\/\/gifex.com\/fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/27519\/Carte-topographique-du-Centre-du-Quebec.png 548w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 360px) 100vw, 360px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-27521\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><label style=\"font-size: 15px;\">Carte topographique du Centre-du-Qu\u00e9bec.<\/label><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>G\u00e9ographie<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Sont repartis sur le territoire du Centre-du-Qu\u00e9bec, en ordre d&#8217;importance\u00a0: les for\u00eats (41,9\u00a0%), les terres agricoles (41,0\u00a0%), les milieux humides (8,9\u00a0%), les eaux (4,6\u00a0%) et finalement les surfaces artificielles (3,6\u00a0%).<\/p>\n<p>La r\u00e9gion s&#8217;\u00e9tend sur 7\u00a0262\u00a0km\u00b2 de superficie, dont 6\u00a0921\u00a0km\u00b2 qui sont terrestres, soit moins de 0,5\u00a0% du territoire qu\u00e9b\u00e9cois. Les agglom\u00e9rations urbaines de Drummondville et de Victoriaville sont les principaux p\u00f4les \u00e9conomiques.<\/p>\n<p>La r\u00e9gion est constitu\u00e9e, d&#8217;une part, par la plaine agricole des basses-terres du Saint-Laurent, et d&#8217;autre part, par un piedmont de la cha\u00eene des Appalaches. L&#8217;altitude minimale est de 1 m au fleuve Saint-Laurent, tandis que l&#8217;altitude maximale est de 625 m \u00e0 la Montagne \u00e0 Simoneau.<\/p>\n<p>Le Centre-du-Qu\u00e9bec est travers\u00e9 par plusieurs rivi\u00e8res; les principales sont Saint-Fran\u00e7ois (Alsig\u00f4n tekw), Nicolet (Pithigani tekw) et B\u00e9cancour (W\u00f4linak tekw).
