Sa principale municipalit\u00e9 est la ville de Saint-Hyacinthe; pour cette raison la MRC est souvent r\u00e9f\u00e9r\u00e9e par les expressions \u00ab\u00a0Grande r\u00e9gion de patrimoine de terres agricoles; la ville de Saint-Hyacinthe \u00e9tant d\u00e9sign\u00e9e \u00ab\u00a0technopole et cit\u00e9 de la biotechnologie agroalimentaire\u00bb.<\/p>\n<p>Plusieurs institutions gouvernementales y sont pr\u00e9sentes, telles que l&#8217;Agence canadienne d&#8217;inspection des aliments (ACIA), le Centre de recherche et de d\u00e9veloppement sur les aliments (CRDA) et le Centre d&#8217;ins\u00e9mination artificielle du Qu\u00e9bec (CIAQ).<\/p>\n<p>Plusieurs entreprises et organisations ont \u00e9lu domicile dans la r\u00e9gion, dont le Centre de
