Son chef-lieu est Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu. Elle a \u00e9t\u00e9 cr\u00e9\u00e9e officiellement le 1er janvier 1982 \u00e0 la suite d&#8217;un d\u00e9cret publi\u00e9 le 2 d\u00e9cembre 1981. Elle prenait alors la succession de trois municipalit\u00e9s de comt\u00e9, soit celles de Saint-Jean (en partie), d&#8217;Iberville (au complet) et de Missisquoi (en partie).<\/p>\n<figure
