Les MRC limitrophes sont Roussillon au nord-est, Les Jardins-de-Napierville \u00e0 l&#8217;est, Le Haut-Saint-Laurent au sud. Au nord-ouest, sur la rive oppos\u00e9e du Saint-Laurent se trouve Vaudreuil-Soulanges. La d\u00e9nivellation du Saint-Laurent est importante entre le lac Saint-Fran\u00e7ois, \u00e0 une altitude de 46 m\u00e8tres, et le lac Saint-Louis, lequel est \u00e0 une altitude de 21 m. Le fleuve est ponctu\u00e9 de plusieurs rapides et cascades, dont les rapides des C\u00e8dres. Le territoire de la MRC est travers\u00e9 par le canal de Beauharnois. Le territoire couvre une superficie totale de 522 km\u00b2, dont 468 km2 terrestres. La rivi\u00e8re Ch\u00e2teauguay arrose le sud du territoire.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00c9conomie<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>L&#8217;\u00e9conomie r\u00e9gionale s&#8217;appuie sur l&#8217;industrie de fabrication, notamment de compos\u00e9s du fer, de produits chimiques, de lingots d&#8217;aluminium, du textile, de pneus, d&#8217;explosifs, d&#8217;alcools. L&#8217;activit\u00e9 industrielle se concentre \u00e0 Beauharnois et \u00e0 Salaberry-de-Valleyfield. L&#8217;agriculture demeure vigoureuse dans les autres municipalit\u00e9s, ainsi qu&#8217;\u00e0 Salaberry-de-Valleyfield ou une grande partie du territoire est cultiv\u00e9.<\/p>\n<p>La MRC est
