Son chef-lieu est Lac-M\u00e9gantic. Situ\u00e9e directement au sud de la ville de Qu\u00e9bec, elle borde la r\u00e9gion de Chaudi\u00e8re-Appalaches, ainsi que les \u00c9tats am\u00e9ricains du New Hampshire et du Maine. Il est nomm\u00e9 pour son abondance de granit.
