Ottawa borde Gatineau, au Qu\u00e9bec, et forme le c\u0153ur de la r\u00e9gion m\u00e9tropolitaine de recensement (RMR) d&#8217;Ottawa\u2013Gatineau et de la r\u00e9gion de la capitale nationale (RCN). En 2016, Ottawa avait une population de 934 243, ce qui en faisait la quatri\u00e8me plus grande ville et une population m\u00e9tropolitaine de 1 476 008 et la cinqui\u00e8me RMR au Canada. Ses limites d&#8217;origine ont \u00e9t\u00e9 \u00e9largies par de nombreuses annexions et ont finalement \u00e9t\u00e9 remplac\u00e9es par une nouvelle incorporation et fusion de la ville en 2001, ce qui a consid\u00e9rablement augment\u00e9 sa superficie.
