Avant avril 2008, la ville en comptait 32 : dans le cadre de la r\u00e9forme, l&#8217;un d&#8217;eux a \u00e9t\u00e9 supprim\u00e9 (il s&#8217;agit du district historique d&#8217;Emin\u00f6n\u00fc) et huit nouveaux ont \u00e9t\u00e9 cr\u00e9\u00e9s \u00e0 partir d&#8217;anciennes municipalit\u00e9s autonomes.<\/p>\n<p>Chaque district a une municipalit\u00e9 locale \u00e9lue par la population r\u00e9sidente. La municipalit\u00e9 m\u00e9tropolitaine (\u0130stanbul B\u00fcy\u00fck\u015fehir Belediyesi) a un r\u00f4le de coordination et de contr\u00f4le des activit\u00e9s des municipalit\u00e9s de district (gestion des ordures m\u00e9nag\u00e8res, construction et maintien des routes, ponts, exploitation d&#8217;un syst\u00e8me de transport public etc.).<\/p>\n<p>Ci-dessous les 39 districts d&#8217;Istanbul par ordre alphab\u00e9tique, suivis de leur population au 31 d\u00e9cembre 2021, ainsi que de leur superficie et de leur densit\u00e9 de population.
