Les provinces du Kasa\u00ef-Oriental, Lomami et Sankuru sont le r\u00e9sultat du d\u00e9membrement de l&#8217;ancienne province du Kasa\u00ef-Oriental. Le Kasa\u00ef-Oriental a \u00e9t\u00e9 form\u00e9 \u00e0 partir du district de Tshilenge et de la ville de Mbujimayi, administr\u00e9e de mani\u00e8re ind\u00e9pendante, qui a conserv\u00e9 son statut de capitale provinciale. Il s&#8217;agit de la plus grande accumulation de diamants au monde, plus concentr\u00e9e que celles de Kimberley, en Afrique du Sud.
