Le d\u00e9partement du Plateau a \u00e9t\u00e9 cr\u00e9\u00e9 en 1999 lorsqu&#8217;il a \u00e9t\u00e9 s\u00e9par\u00e9 du d\u00e9partement de l&#8217;Ou\u00e9m\u00e9.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Le Plateau s&#8217;\u00e9tend sur une superficie de 2,835 km\u00b2<\/li>\n<li>Le chef-lieu du d\u00e9partement est Pob\u00e8<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Sak\u00e9t\u00e9 est la capitale d\u00e9partementale ; les autres grandes agglom\u00e9rations comprennent Isigny, Ifangni, Ita-Dj\u00e8bou, K\u00e9tou et Pob\u00e8.<\/p>\n<p><strong>G\u00e9ographie<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Le d\u00e9partement du Plateau borde le d\u00e9partement des Collines au nord, le Nigeria \u00e0 l&#8217;est, le d\u00e9partement de l&#8217;Ou\u00e9m\u00e9 au sud-ouest et le d\u00e9partement du Zou \u00e0 l&#8217;ouest. Il se caract\u00e9rise par des plateaux allant de 20 \u00e0 200 m au-dessus du niveau moyen de la mer.<\/p>\n<p>Les plateaux sont divis\u00e9s par des vall\u00e9es allant du nord au sud, cr\u00e9\u00e9es par la rivi\u00e8re Iguidi. Les d\u00e9p\u00f4ts fluviaux d&#8217;argile contiennent de riches gisements de minerai de fer en dessous; il y a de l&#8217;argile siliceuse et des zones bois\u00e9es autour du bassin fluvial.<\/p>\n<p><strong>D\u00e9mographie<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>En 2013, la population totale du d\u00e9partement \u00e9tait de 622\u00a0372 habitants, avec 300\u00a0065 hommes et 322\u00a0307 femmes. La proportion de femmes \u00e9tait de 51,80 %.
