Le d\u00e9partement de la Donga a \u00e9t\u00e9 cr\u00e9\u00e9 en 1999 lorsqu&#8217;il a \u00e9t\u00e9 s\u00e9par\u00e9 du d\u00e9partement d&#8217;Atacora.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Donga s&#8217;\u00e9tend sur une superficie de 11,126 km\u00b2<\/li>\n<li>Le chef-lieu du d\u00e9partement est Djougou<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Djougou est la capitale d\u00e9partementale ; les autres agglom\u00e9rations majeures comprennent Aledjo-Koura, Aworo, Bassila, Bodi, Copargo, Kolokond\u00e9, Ouak\u00e9, Patargo, P\u00e9l\u00e9bina, P\u00e9n\u00e9ssoulou et Prekete.<\/p>\n<p><strong>G\u00e9ographie<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Le d\u00e9partement de la Donga, d&#8217;une superficie de 10 691 kilom\u00e8tres carr\u00e9s, est situ\u00e9 dans le centre-nord du B\u00e9nin, limitrophe du d\u00e9partement de l&#8217;Atacora au nord, du d\u00e9partement du Borgou \u00e0 l&#8217;est, du d\u00e9partement des Collines au sud et du Togo \u00e0 l&#8217;ouest.<\/p>\n<p>La r\u00e9gion nord-ouest du B\u00e9nin est principalement constitu\u00e9e de montagnes bois\u00e9es, d&#8217;o\u00f9 proviennent deux affluents du fleuve Niger, la rivi\u00e8re M\u00e9krou et la rivi\u00e8re Pendjari. Le Mont Sokbaro, largement cit\u00e9 comme le point culminant du B\u00e9nin, se situe \u00e0 la fronti\u00e8re du d\u00e9partement de la Donga avec le Togo.<\/p>\n<p><strong>D\u00e9mographie<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>En 2013, la population totale du d\u00e9partement \u00e9tait de 543\u00a0130, avec 270\u00a0754 hommes et 272\u00a0376 femmes. La proportion de femmes \u00e9tait de 50,10 %.
