Le d\u00e9partement du Borgou a \u00e9t\u00e9 divis\u00e9 en 1999, avec son territoire du nord transf\u00e9r\u00e9 au d\u00e9partement d&#8217;Alibori nouvellement cr\u00e9\u00e9.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Le Borgou s&#8217;\u00e9tend sur une superficie de 25,856 km\u00b2<\/li>\n<li>Le chef-lieu du d\u00e9partement est Parakou<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Parakou est la capitale d\u00e9partementale ; les autres grandes agglom\u00e9rations comprennent Bemb\u00e8r\u00e8k\u00e8, Bori, Kalal\u00e8, N\u2019Dali, Nikki, Sinend\u00e9 et Tchaourou.<\/p>\n<p><strong>G\u00e9ographie<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Le Borgou est un d\u00e9partement situ\u00e9 \u00e0 l&#8217;est du B\u00e9nin.<\/p>\n<p>Le Borgou borde le d\u00e9partement de l&#8217;Alibori au nord, le Nigeria \u00e0 l&#8217;est, le d\u00e9partement des Collines au sud, ainsi que les d\u00e9partements de Donga et d&#8217;Atacora \u00e0 l&#8217;ouest. G\u00e9ographiquement, le d\u00e9partement fait partie de la plus grande r\u00e9gion de Borg(o)u divis\u00e9e par la fronti\u00e8re B\u00e9nin-Nig\u00e9ria, avec 130 000 kilom\u00e8tres carr\u00e9s au B\u00e9nin et 52 000 kilom\u00e8tres carr\u00e9s au Nigeria.<\/p>\n<p><strong>D\u00e9mographie<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Selon le recensement de 2013, la population totale du d\u00e9partement \u00e9tait de 1\u00a0214\u00a0249, dont 607\u00a0013 hommes et 607\u00a0236 femmes. La proportion de femmes \u00e9tait de 50,00 %. La population rurale totale \u00e9tait de 56,40 %, tandis que la population urbaine \u00e9tait de 43,60 %. La population active totale du d\u00e9partement \u00e9tait de 271 652, dont 25,20 % de femmes.
