Le d\u00e9partement de l&#8217;Alibori a \u00e9t\u00e9 cr\u00e9\u00e9 en 1999 lorsqu&#8217;il a \u00e9t\u00e9 s\u00e9par\u00e9 du d\u00e9partement du Borgou et porte le nom de la rivi\u00e8re Alibori. Kandi est la capitale d\u00e9partementale ; les autres grandes agglom\u00e9rations comprennent Banikoara, Goutarou, Gu\u00e9n\u00e8, Malanville et S\u00e9gbana.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Alibori s&#8217;\u00e9tend sur une superficie de 26,242 km\u00b2<\/li>\n<li>Le chef-lieu du d\u00e9partement est Kandi<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>G\u00e9ographie<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Le d\u00e9partement de l&#8217;Alibori se situe au nord du B\u00e9nin, il borde le Niger au nord, le Nigeria \u00e0 l&#8217;est, le d\u00e9partement du Borgou au sud, le d\u00e9partement de l&#8217;Atacora \u00e0 l&#8217;ouest et le Burkina Faso au nord-ouest. L&#8217;Alibori est une r\u00e9gion fertile compos\u00e9e de hautes terres et de savane. Le coton, le ma\u00efs et le manioc sont les principales cultures cultiv\u00e9es. Les plaines du nord-est descendent jusqu&#8217;\u00e0 la vall\u00e9e du fleuve Niger qui, avec la rivi\u00e8re M\u00e9krou, forme la fronti\u00e8re avec le Niger. Les autres cours d&#8217;eau majeurs comprennent les rivi\u00e8res Alibori, Sota et Pako. Le d\u00e9partement contient la majeure partie de la section b\u00e9ninoise du parc national transfrontalier du W.<\/p>\n<p><strong>D\u00e9mographie<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>En 2013, la population totale du d\u00e9partement \u00e9tait de 867.463, avec 431.357 hommes et 436.106 femmes. La proportion de femmes \u00e9tait de 50,30 %. La population rurale totale \u00e9tait de 75,70 %, tandis que la population urbaine \u00e9tait de 24,30 %. La population active totale du d\u00e9partement \u00e9tait de 201 622, dont 25,40 % de femmes.
