Zurich est le canton le plus peupl\u00e9 de Suisse, avec plus de 1 500 000 habitants. Les terres au nord et \u00e0 l&#8217;est sont plus agricoles, mais dans chaque partie du canton la fabrication pr\u00e9domine. Le canton de Z\u00fcrich est connu pour les machines. Le tissage de la soie et du coton \u00e9tait important dans le pass\u00e9, mais il a maintenant cess\u00e9 de l&#8217;\u00eatre. Il y a une grande industrie du papier. Les petites et moyennes entreprises sont des contributeurs importants \u00e0 l&#8217;\u00e9conomie du canton de Z\u00fcrich. Il fait enti\u00e8rement partie du bassin versant du Haut Rhin. Il est caract\u00e9ris\u00e9 par un relief glaciaire et travers\u00e9 par une s\u00e9rie de rivi\u00e8res coulant g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement du sud-est au nord-ouest, class\u00e9es d&#8217;ouest en est : Reuss, Reppisch, Sihl, Linth-Limmat (formant le lac de Z\u00fcrich), Glatt, T\u00f6ss et Thur. Les principaux lacs sont le lac de Zurich (Linth-Limmat, 88 km\u00b2), le Greifen (Glatt, 8,4 km\u00b2) et le Pf\u00e4ffikon (Glatt, 3,3 km\u00b2). L\u2019agglom\u00e9ration zurichoise s\u2019\u00e9tend au-del\u00e0 des fronti\u00e8res cantonales.<\/p>\n<p>Le canton a une superficie, en 2011, de 1 728,8 kilom\u00e8tres carr\u00e9s. Sur cette superficie, 43,4 % sont utilis\u00e9s \u00e0 des fins agricoles, tandis que 30,7 % sont bois\u00e9s. Sur le reste des terres, 20,1% sont occup\u00e9s (b\u00e2timents ou routes) et 5,8% sont des terres improductives.<\/p>\n<p>La majeure partie du canton est constitu\u00e9e de vall\u00e9es fluviales peu profondes qui s&#8217;\u00e9coulent vers le Haut-Rhin au nord. Rafzerfeld est un territoire au nord du Rhin acquis par le canton en 1651. Au nord-ouest et au sud-est du canton, le territoire s&#8217;\u00e9l\u00e8ve respectivement vers le Jura et les Alpes. La vall\u00e9e de la Linth d\u00e9bouche sur le lac de Zurich et continue sous le nom de Limmat. Cette vall\u00e9e est la vall\u00e9e la plus importante du canton de Z\u00fcrich. La vall\u00e9e du Glatt prend sa source dans le Greifensee et est s\u00e9par\u00e9e de la Limmat par des cr\u00eates. La vall\u00e9e du T\u00f6ss ressemble \u00e0 une gorge. La vall\u00e9e de la rivi\u00e8re Sihl est situ\u00e9e \u00e0 l&#8217;ouest du canton. En convergence avec la Limmat dans la ville de Z\u00fcrich. La Sihl est s\u00e9par\u00e9e du lac de Z\u00fcrich par la cha\u00eene de l&#8217;Albis. L&#8217;Albishorn (915 m) est le point culminant de ce massif. Le Schnebelhorn est une montagne situ\u00e9e pr\u00e8s de Fischenthal dans la vall\u00e9e de la T\u00f6ss, entre les cantons de Zurich (\u00e0 l&#8217;ouest) et de Saint-Gall (\u00e0 l&#8217;est). C&#8217;est le plus haut sommet (1&#8217;292 m) du canton de Z\u00fcrich. L&#8217;Uetliberg fait partie de la cha\u00eene de l&#8217;Albis. Cette montagne est appr\u00e9ci\u00e9e de la population de la ville de Z\u00fcrich pour ses loisirs.<\/p>\n<p>La grande majorit\u00e9 du canton se trouve au sud du Rhin, \u00e0 l&#8217;exception de Rafzerfeld comme mentionn\u00e9 et d&#8217;une infime partie du village de Laufen-Uhwiesen appel\u00e9e Nohl.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00c9conomie<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>La r\u00e9gion du lac de Zurich est essentiellement utilis\u00e9e comme zone de r\u00e9sidence et de loisirs, jouissant en outre d&#8217;un fort potentiel touristique. \u00c0 l&#8217;est, l&#8217;Oberland est sp\u00e9cialis\u00e9 dans la sylviculture et le textile. \u00c0 l&#8217;ouest et au nord, l&#8217;Unterland prolonge la grande zone industrielle de Z\u00fcrich et de son agglom\u00e9ration. Le canton est donc principalement vou\u00e9 \u00e0 l&#8217;industrie, concentrant ainsi pr\u00e8s de la moiti\u00e9 des si\u00e8ges sociaux des cent premi\u00e8res entreprises suisses. Les activit\u00e9s agricoles sont n\u00e9anmoins pr\u00e9serv\u00e9es dans le nord du canton (vignes) et dans les Pr\u00e9alpes (fruits, c\u00e9r\u00e9ales, vignes, \u00e9levage).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Communes<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>En 2019, le canton de Zurich compte 162 communes. Le canton s&#8217;\u00e9tend \u00e9galement sur le lac de Greifen et le lac de Zurich, sans que ces deux zones ne fassent partie d&#8217;aucune commune (ou d&#8217;aucun district) ; elles sont
