Il est compos\u00e9 de huit districts et sa capitale est Bellinzone. Il est aussi traditionnellement divis\u00e9 en Sopraceneri et Sottoceneri, respectivement au nord et au sud du Monte Ceneri. Il c\u00f4toie au nord les cantons du Valais par le col du Nufenen, et d&#8217;Uri, dont il est s\u00e9par\u00e9 par le col du Saint-Gothard (San Gottardo en italien). Il partage sa limite nord-est avec les Grisons ; au sud et \u00e0 l&#8217;ouest, il est frontalier avec la Lombardie et le Pi\u00e9mont. Particularit\u00e9 historique, la commune de Campione d&#8217;Italia, sur la rive orientale du lac de Lugano, demeure sous souverainet\u00e9 italienne et constitue donc une enclave en territoire suisse.<\/p>\n<p>Les villes importantes du Tessin sont Lugano, sur la rive septentrionale du lac homonyme (aussi appel\u00e9 Ceresio), Locarno, au nord du lac Majeur, et Bellinzone, la capitale du canton.<\/p>\n<p>Le Tessin culmine au Rheinwaldhorn et au Adula, tous deux \u00e0 une altitude de 3 402 m, et son point le plus bas se trouve au bord du lac Majeur, \u00e0 193 m d&#8217;altitude ; ce point est \u00e9galement le plus bas de Suisse. Avec 2 812,2 km\u00b2, le Tessin est le cinqui\u00e8me plus grand canton de Suisse.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00c9conomie<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Trois des plus grandes raffineries d&#8217;or du monde sont bas\u00e9es au Tessin, dont la raffinerie de Pamp \u00e0 Castel San Pietro, le principal fabricant de lingots d&#8217;or. Lugano est le troisi\u00e8me centre financier de Suisse apr\u00e8s Zurich et Gen\u00e8ve. La capitale du canton, Bellinzone, abrite un site important et un site industriel des Chemins de fer f\u00e9d\u00e9raux suisses, ainsi que le Tribunal p\u00e9nal f\u00e9d\u00e9ral. L&#8217;\u00e9lectricit\u00e9 produite est utilis\u00e9e dans le canton et export\u00e9e \u00e0 l&#8217;\u00e9tranger. Les bovins sont \u00e9lev\u00e9s dans la zone nord.<\/p>\n<p>La production de vin est importante pour le canton et est export\u00e9e principalement vers le reste de la Suisse. Les vignes se trouvent principalement dans la moiti\u00e9 sud du canton, o\u00f9 le climat est plus chaud. Les autres produits importants produits dans le canton sont : le ma\u00efs, les pommes de terre, le tabac et les l\u00e9gumes.<\/p>\n<p>Le climat du canton est g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement \u00e0 l&#8217;oppos\u00e9 de celui que l&#8217;on trouve au nord des Alpes. C&#8217;est g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement un climat plus chaud, qui attire de nombreux touristes des autres cantons suisses. Les lacs, ainsi que le beau temps, sont consid\u00e9r\u00e9s comme des attractions touristiques. Le tourisme est le secteur le plus important du canton.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Communes<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Au 1<sup>er<\/sup> janvier 2021, le canton du Tessin compte 108 communes, r\u00e9parties en 8 districts.<\/p>\n<p>Le canton comprend deux communanza, des territoires qui appartiennent \u00e0 deux communes : la Comunanza Capriasca\/Lugano (sous la souverainet\u00e9 commune de Capriasca et Lugano) et la Comunanza Cadenazzo\/Monteceneri (Cadenazzo et Monteceneri). Le canton s&#8217;\u00e9tend \u00e9galement sur une partie des lacs de Lugano et Majeur, sans que ces deux zones ne fassent partie d&#8217;aucune commune ; elles sont comprises dans la liste \u00e0
